I have lived with my FiST for 5 months and thought it was time to add my quality issues to this thread. The first item is fairly minor...the outside mirror fit to the door has gaps that "bug" me every time I walk past the car. The gaps do NOT match between the two mirrors. Ford should have used a gasket at the mating surfaces for a finished look and probably reduce some wind noise at that location.
The second item is paint related...the factory did a paint repair in the area just below the fuel filler door and it is noticeable when looking at it from the left rear quarter view. I know silver is hard to color match, but the factory repair should have been better (before you ask...no, the dealer did not do the repair. It came off the transporter with the paint repair). Over time, the paint issue could become worse, so I had my brother look it over and he agreed this issue is NOT uncommon with cars that roll off the assembly line and some must have paint problems corrected before being released. He was surprised to see the quality of the repair and said it could be repainted, but to do it right, the whole panel needs to be painted. He also noticed the bumper did not exactly match the body...another fairly common problem when parts are painted at different locations. My brother cred...he is retired from GM (though a Ford fan) and has worked multiple jobs in assembly, water test, "shake and rattle", problem/resolution for new car launch, quality control and more. He is also a paint and body expert and works at a custom restoration shop where paint blending and color matching is taken seriously...basically he knows paint! The final advice...don't let the dealer touch it! So, I guess I can just let it go or pay for the "proper" fix myself.
