The modern motor vehicle is covered with plastic parts that typically clip together or are held together by two piece plastic screws.
The temptation when trying to remove these parts is to use a metal screw driver or perhaps a pair of pliers and some force when the two parts refuse to separate.

A set of specialised removal tools can make life easier and avoid breaking and scratching plastic panels. A little Google searching will quite often reveal how things come apart and where the hidden clips are located.

When I fitted my boost gauge in the centre console, I was not sure where to start. I knew it clipped together but to where to apply the force and some of these plastic panels need a surprising amount of force to come apart was the question. A bit of google did the trick, although it was not exactly what I needed it certainly helped.

I used the plastic tool and inserted behind the cover starting at the fog light end and pull outwards. Getting the cover to first unclip is the hard part, their a very firm fit. The first time I did it I removed the headlight to see how the clips worked. I have my front bumper removed at the moment so here a couple of images to show what the backside looks like. The plastic is very flexible not brittle so breakage is not a problem.
