Well that's the thing. There is an insurance policy listed for that driver on the police report. It's how I found it to make the claim against her insurance. So she would have had to sign up between hitting us and when she gave the cop her info. Which was not very long.
If you're insurance provider is in the loop, have them deal with it. They represent you.

I will have to open a claim with them, I suppose. I was only trying to avoid that because I have to pay my deductible upfront until they settle with the at fault driver/their insurance. And my rate goes up if I have an unsettled claim open at renewal time, which is in August. Cutting it close.

You're not at fault, your insurance provider should be in the loop for this high amount of a claim. They should assist and maybe handle to case for you. Let them communicate with the at fault insurance co. and do the leg work. They have resources, lawyers, etc. Let them represent you if they will. I'm sure this scenario is not new to them. Worse case is claiming uninsured motorist against your policy. Then you may have a deductible. But you're still not at fault and shouldn't count against you to raise your premium.

I opened a claim with my insurance company this morning, assuming I'm just going to hear bad news from the at fault driver's provider. I need to get an estimate regardless of which insurance I finalize a claim with. Most states probably have this too, but in TN you need to mail a report to the state within 20 days of an accident that documents proof of insurance and estimated property damage.

I test drove a couple of mustangs last night, one ecoboost premum with performance package and one base GT. The stock EB is obviously a big performance hit compared to my FiST, felt completely numb, heavy, and the clutch has a long, funny throw. The shifter did feel pretty solid and crisp, though, and the interior was pleasantly comfortable. The GT was more on par with my FiST on the butt dyno. Stronger, definitely more top end, but didn't feel much faster due to it's size and weight, and identical to the EB on every other comparison, even more sluggish when wanting to go anywhere fast but straight. But there were definitely feels from that instant N/A power and V8 exhaust note when doing a quick highway pull.

Something else of note. Does each new Mustang come with a carton of Marlboros? I looked at no less than 10 used ones yesterday and they all smelled of smoke.

It's up to the insurance now what they want to do. The shop quoted me for just replacing the whole rear panel and repairing both passenger wheels. I'll probably ask them to replace the wheels outright since that would be cheaper anyway.

Well, I think it's time the FiST and I parted ways...

I was run off the highway this morning by another inattentive driver trying to enter my lane. I had to jerk over to the shoulder and thankfully was let back into traffic by the truck that was behind me before I ate the median. I haven't even finalized my claim from getting hit in my work's parking lot.

I'm going to start pulling go fast parts and will be setting up a part out thread.

Sucks...I love this car, but I am taking this as a sign to move on before some god-awful TN driver kills me.

That's terrible, V_2. I think you may be cursed.

Glad you're alright, and good luck with your future vehicles. Get a land barge with a cow catcher or bully bars, something that will force them to pay attention to you!
I've been pricing one of these out.

I pulled everything but the turbo kit and aux fuel.

you work fast. weren't you looking at possibly getting back into a Green Envy?
Insurance is going to fix my MO. I was interested in the GE that's up for sale if my car was going to be written off, but I just can't keep ignoring the signs lately that I should move on to something more "visible".

I've driven in several states East and West and I am positive the worst drivers I've encountered have been in middle TN.

Sad another one bites the dust.
My 2010 Ford Focus has had over $6,000 of body work done to it. Over $5,000 of it coming from nature on two different occasions. My Wife's Mazda 3 every single wheel has curb damage from people coming over on her just part of life.

Sounds like a cop out and that youre afraid. Pucker up butter cup as there are shitty drivers everywhere no matter what kind of car you drive. The most used part in the interior of my FIST is the Horn and the finger to those who are being inattentive drivers that are causing the road ways to be a dangerous place. I DGAF if you're a grandma driving slow...if your not going the posted speed limit you need to re-evaluate your driving status as you are a Hazzard for other drivers. I don't care if your a Soccer mom driving to practice...if you're on the phone and eating at the same time driving your 90k BMW that clearly has hands free and your swerving in Traffic I will NOT hesitate to tell you that you are #1 in my book out my Sunroof and honk as I pass to you to avoid the dangerous behavior that you display while driving. YOU MUST BE A PROACTIVE DRIVER....if you are not...you are letting others display their horrible driving skills and possible effect someone's life forever as they are just trying to get from point A to point B

I mean, cool story, but I'm laying into my horn on the daily and flipping assholes off. Dumbass today didn't even hear my horn at 80mph, literally would have sideswiped me if I didnt move into the shoulder. I've cut off and road raged with the best of them...I have a very short temper when it comes to dangerous, careless imbecile drivers.

This isn't even counting the fckers Sunday driving in the passing lane that speed up and ride your ass hard when you float on by them BeCaUse SmALl CaR PaSSEd Me or the feminine hygeine dispensers that intentionally cut you off and brake check because a brightly colored hatchback is about to roll by.

It gets old. I'm over it.

And yeah, it is because of my car. There's dumbasses everywhere but none of this flagrant BS happens when I drive my wife's Rogue.

You got to do whatever makes you happy but it sounds like to me some people's throats need to be cut.
Get out of Tennessee and move to North Carolina fuck that state. Tennessee is nothing but a bunch of cities that have turned themselves into tourist traps. We have mountains, beaches, islands, sandhills everything.

I love visiting NC...have family in Asheville and Wilmington. And yeah, I agree...TN used to be great but the Nashville metro area today is a cauldron of poor city planning, laughably inept mass transit, lazy traffic law enforcement, nonexistent road maintenance, and broken jalopies with sheet metal leprosy.
