Crazy that the garage door cracked with very little damage to the ST.

It is. Seriously, there are a couple of white scuff marks from the door cross member hitting the hatch, but NO dents. Very strange. The downside: 3 new garage doors needed. That was an expenditure I did not expect to make. The upside: They will be operationally awesomely smooth. LOL.

Time for a sliding garage door.[burnout]
I'm not even sure what that would be! Our doors are segmented and on rollers, so they do "slide" in a way, but are you meaning like sliding doors you find in chain grocery stores? That would be fascinating and @#$@ibng expensive. LOL.

That is amazing. We might try to have the door restored, but have a "cheap" replacement dropped in while it is being reworked. Also get the other doors tuned up and a jack strap opener for that misbehaving door location.

Those are insane!!!!!

Any luck on getting the garage door replaced?

We just had the motor on my side go AND the spring in the torsion bar go on my husband's side.
Apparently it's garage door season!!!!!

Working on it. Fiesta is stuck in the garage till something happens. We're investigating a local firm that builds custom doors. Now tilting to replacing the one door, but getting any mechanical bits on the other doors that need restoring done as well (probably a different vendor).

Fiesta is finally free of the garage. Here's the final result. It took a bit to get here as the house was getting some other fixes done: stucco repairs, minor rot fixes, roof work, gutter work, and finally full exterior paint. The cosmetic "hinge" hardware just went up today. We had to make a slight adjustment because the screws on the upper hinges were actually scraping the wall as they passed. Lowering them a few inches on the door allows them to more easily clear as the panel separates from vertical while moving up and down. Door on the left is the new one. It is way more stout that the originals, but I still wish I'd just gotten a garage door opener tor the original door years ago. So much unpleasantness could have been avoided.
