I think the Cayman is really the last good canyon carver that Porsche makes, but it's really bordering on too much for that purpose. That said, the change to a flat four on the 718 models already has their used values falling pretty sharply. In 2-3 years, I imagine really good deals will be possible there. The flat six in the GT4/Spyder is pretty awesome, but those are silly money.

I've got a '19 ND2 myself, and it's what I'd go with every day if you want the best bang for your buck. They're stupid cheap to own, and there's no substituting the small size (if you fit) and low weight (even the RF only tops out at 2400 pounds). The revised motor is really sweet too (there's a very Honda-like crescendo getting to the 7500 RPM redline). Plus the aftermarket for Miatas is nearly endless, and only seems to get better with time.
Agreed on the Cayman.... a friend let me drive his 2014 GTS Cayman recently and it blew me away. That chassis is magical and the refinement inside is top notch. If the 718 models drop to $40k or less for a CPO one, that might be the sweet spot for me in the future. I don't care if it has a Suby rumble!

Now that its confirmed that the next gen BRZ/86 will arrive as a 2022 model, I'm waiting to see what those are like. I love my 86 and if the next gen is an improved version, I'll definitely want to test drive one. Nobody seems to know what motor it will have...2.4 NA, 2.4T, 2.0T..... guess I will wait and see.

RF ND2 w/ BBS/Brembo package is also up there on the short list. It would be Miata #5 for me :)

I wouldn't mind a newer one in Orange Spice with recaros, but I love my Green Envy. Not sure how many of these were built, but mine doesn't have a sunroof, but has navigation and recaros as an option.
Mine has all options, and doesn’t appear to have been modified in any way.

Owned in this order with other cars between:
1978 Fiesta S
1980 Fiesta
2011 Fiesta SES
2019 Fiesta ST
Do I win the chicken dinner?
How were the early ‘80s Fiestas? Were they reliable, etc. ? I drove my fathers 80”s F150 with a manual 4 speed 6 cylinder engine. It was a pretty reliable truck back then.

2017 Ford Fiesta ST, Shadow Black, Recaro seats, Mountune RMM, Swift springs, 5mm rear spacers, Falken 615+ tires

I only have one, and have no need for another one, except that now that new ones are not available, I'm going to be really upset if something happens to this one.
For that reason, I semi jokingly told a couple people towards the end of the 2019 model year that I was going to buy another one and just stick it in a bubble and preserve it.
Install the dash LED strip for that '19 before you engage the car cryogenics. 😉

Given US Auto's dedication towards larger profit *cough* I mean vehicle, I wonder how many decades before we get another Fiesta? Maybe we can get congress to make it easier to import small autos from over the pond... bringing the MK7 into reach? 😏

If the new Fiesta ST (the 3 cylinder, 1.5 liter one) were available in the U.S. then I would have bought it and kept the car I have.

Otherwise, I only have one ST. If I were to total it I would buy another, sure.

My 2019 is my second. I had a new 2015 I happily drove for 2 years until a lady turned in front of me and I t-boned her doing about 45. I had a pristine 2011 M3 in between I sold to get another FiST because it's just way more fun to drive.

I too had an E90 M3, but way before our first FiST.

Owned two 79’s one was a regular and the other was a S. They were damn fun little cars and yes the slide like ours do. hahahahahaha . In fact that is part of what I loved about them. Oh and ya the engine mounts were trash. I and I used to go through them like butter living in San Francisco and driving the cars for Waiters on Wheels while I was in Sound Engineering School.
I literally beat them to death on the San Francisco hills and yes they were both manuals.

I have thought about a second FiST but would rather replace E36 M3 with something along the lines of a S30z or a Caymen or a NSX.

My wife had a 2000 Boxster S. Besides having to deal with the IMS bearing it was reliable for the short time we had it. The car was very capable and fast in the canyons. It was also long geared and not as much fun as the A2 Gti (or the FiST) I had at the time... the 2 of which I think have similar handling characteristics. I think 2nd gear was good for 60mph so u r not shifting as much as with a less powerful car. It also bugged me that u cannot see the engine. I did not like the looks of the Boxster (the last generation looks the best in my opinion) My wife drives a 228i now which is more powerful then my FiST but no more fun.
(Too many driver modes and not much in steering feel)

Ya modern BMW’s are known for their dead steering feel. They have not managed to get their Electric assisted rack steering to work as good as Fords. lol.
I have never been a Boxster Fan but the Caymen has a nice look . I think it all depends on the model as well as Porsche did a few different specs for the cars just like with their 911’s . So if you just blindly buy one you could end up buying the lesser model.
Of course my friend Stephanie got a Boxster from her Dad for a wedding present and she did not like it either. She got rid of it and they got an NSX . Though that thing just sits in their Garage more often than naught.
My friend who is all things JDM claims NSX’s are expensive to own and maintain now. Due in part to some parts no longer being easy to get. Except outside of eating tires like hungry hounds NSX’s were always known for being quite reliable. I do not know what to say about that. lol
He pretty much complains about all the older cars being hard to get and find parts yet owns a stable of them at the same time . lol

I think I'm about to purchase my 2nd one, going to decide today. Are you guys buying multiple due to reliability problems, or other reasons? I had a lot of issues with my first one, but hoping it was just a bad example.

If I find the right used fist when my current one is higher mileage I’ll buy it and swap everything over. Then I’ll make my current one the winter warrior.

Stay away from any that have been "modded" and/or "modded" then reverted back to stock for resale. This is true of any car... not just the FiST. But there are some models... "tuner cars"... that are more often experimented with... a.k.a. "modded"... and this is one of them.

At my house we have 4 between all members of the household. Not including the ones that show up on a semi-regular basis for detailing or other work. My roommate has two, one that he tracks and one that he dailies. My partner and I each have one, and he wants a third (I want a CTR or ND MX5 RF). We are known as "the fiesta house" in our local area lol.

Gifted the first one to my daughter - her husband totaled it. Bought the second one for my wife, then hail totaled that one. On my third now.
