About time I started a build thread. Will be posting pictures shortly.

I used to own a 19 that I purchased new and babied. I wanted more - I wanted a gutted track rat that I could abuse. My car was 18 months old and had under 8k miles, XPEL ppf on the whole front, etc. Simply put - too nice to abuse.

Enter the 2014 blue Fiesta ST purchased sight (sort of) unseen from Co-part. It was listed as running/driving, however the hood was stuck closed. Odd. Here is a picture of how it sat at the auction yard:
Auction.JPG

I paid a bit more than I should have but it had Recaros (emphasis on had) and it looked lowered to me (it wasn't). Also the wheels/tint led me to believe I should take a gamble in hopes of finding extras under the hood. Cobb RMM and CAI - better than nothing but still underwhelming. Here it is upon arrival:

And here is how it sits now:

What's been done:
  • Remove and sell Recaro interior.
  • Remove and replace windshield
  • Remove and repair (sorta) crunched front bumper.
  • Remove/replace pass. side headlight
  • Remove/replace drivers steering wheel airbag, drivers footwell airbag, two front impact crash sensors, clock spring, drivers seatbelt (rebuilt original), airbag module (rebuilt original).
  • Remove/replace hood, radiator support and support bracket, torn coolant hose (one), torn evap line
  • Removed A/C compressor/condensor/drier and easily accessible lines; replaced with A/C delete pulley and belt; replaced broken guide pulley. Saved 20+ lbs and A/C was broken anyways.
  • Removed damaged radiator and fan shroud; replaced with Mishimoto radiator and shroud, using stock fan
  • Removed stock crash bar; replaced with TB Performance crash bar
About to be done:
  • Repair rear door hinge, change oil, add coolant, cross fingers and press Start button.

What is TO be done in the near future: (parts on hand unless otherwise noted):

  • Install 16x8 RPF1s with 205/45 RE71r tires - already wish I went wider
  • Install upgraded pass. side motor mount
  • Install Whoosh intercooler pipes with V3 black intercooler (intercooler on order)
  • Install Powerstop Track Day rotors, pads; upgraded fluid and lines; Boomba brake deflectors
  • Install Whoosh short shift kit and bushings (both sides); planning upgraded shifter at some point
  • Install/adjust ISC coilovers
  • Install custom stock frame upgraded turbo; install Whoosh catted 3" coated downpipe (on order); install MBRP exhaust; custom tune via AP
  • Install Sparco Chrono seat, Sparco slider, Planted bracket. Still unsure on passenger seat
  • Drop off car for custom half cage by local fabricator; sunroof removal and panel welded in place; vinyl wrap roof in black.
  • Find/install harnesses (haven't decided yet)
  • Sell EVERYTHING I pull off the car to recoup some costs :(
Once that's all done - wide tires, hack up the fenders, and bolt on the cheapest eBay fender flares I can find. Also probably find a very large wing and front splitter so I can fulfill my Fast & Furious dreams.

I'm going to compile a total list of parts and prices and what it cost to get it going again. Car itself was a bit over $5k after fees and shipping. I think I overpaid but bidding on an auction and jumping up $50 or $100 increments is such a quick mouse click away.

Went for my first "drive" today. Let it warm up, punched it in 2nd and pretty sure I went into limp mode. Revs shot up then dropped and car started to chug. More to debug it seems like. Coolant dropped quite a bit - hoping it worked it's way into the cooling system and not the block. Otherwise this expensive project will be getting more expensive.

Rough mounted the hood, headlights, and front bumper. Mounted the rpf1s and I love how they look.

Jumped the gun a bit, car is still good to go. Coolant went down because I ran the heater for a few mins, should have thought about that. Found out why it bogged - my shoddy attempt at a repair of the evap harness failed. Ordered a new one and replaced it tonight.

Pulled CEL codes tonight via accessport. Not worried about any of them really. Would like to figure out how to disable/bypass the A/C related one.

Drove the car for ~6-8 mins today, a couple miles around my neighborhood. Coolant dropped again but I suspect this is normal. I used the Motorcraft Yellow coolant and now there is a bit of the old/original Red (Orange?) coolant in the overflow mixing with the Yellow. It only dropped a bit below Min. so I think I'm ok. Expecting a Blackstone report from the oil any day now. Fingers crossed but I also expect an above-average water presence because I didn't want to warm the car up and/or bring it up to temp on the oil that was in there.

Car runs strong. It sounds like it has a BOV but I swear I didn't see anything - I think it's just loud since the wiper cowl was off. Did a short hit in 2nd and there was hardly any traction. It's 35 degrees out, streets are dirty, and on brand new cold RE71r tires. Shift up light comes on so if it had a tune from the previous owner, I doubt it's on there anymore. Felt stock apart from all the vibrations and rattling from a gutted interior and a Cobb RMM.

Reset the check engine light and reset the ECU via Accessport. I was thinking that since I didn't turn the A/C system on, then perhaps that's why the A/C code didn't come back. For the ~2 miles, no check engine lights came on. Just the "door open" light on from the hood sensor (I think) and the TPMS light on (no sensors in my wheels). Making good progress!

What did you end up doing with those old SVT wheels? I know a few local people looking to buy a set

I have them in my shed. All 4 have significant rash on them but I'll let them go for cheap, PM me if interested.

Update - removed the window tint and cleaned up the interior. I have to reinstall the horn, permanently mount the headlights, then do some more repairs on the front bumper. Anticipating my state salvage inspection completed by the end of this month or NLT first week of March. Not many updates until then. After it's inspected, that's when the fun starts....

Was super sick for about 3 weeks but back at it again. Everything mounted except passenger headlight and horn. Can't get the horn to work. Both ends of the connector are badly corroded which seems odd to me. Sanded down the pins on the horn side but the harness side looks bad too. Going to try to clean it with electrical connector cleaner but don't have it on hand. If that doesn't work I'll probably cut the connector off and solder on plugs or something. I replaced the clock spring so that shouldn't be it. I can hear a relay or something clicking when I press on the wheel. If I can get the horn working that's the last step. Then schedule salvage inspection, get temp reg and do some shakedown miles on the street with my fingers crossed leading up to inspection. She's rough on the outside but I'm already in love.

Bought a cheapo horn and hard wired it, now the Fiesta sounds like a pickup truck from the 40s. But it works! Passenger headlight is bust but mounted it with cable ties. Not enough of the tabs left to plastic weld. Probably end up buying a new housing at some point but fingers crossed that I can pass salvage inspection this way. Game on!
