This week marks 10 years (80k miles) since I obtained my FiST. I ordered it in October 2103 and picked it up in January. It wasn't long before I found this forum and have been here ever since.
Now my question. ..............................................

How many others here bought theirs NEW. I realize that after 10 years we're at the bottom of the depreciation cycle and in another 10 the value starts to rise. Not that there's anything out there to remotely replace what this car is or can do, let alone be affordable. For that matter there are next to NO domestic cars. SUVs, sure, Trucks yes. Cars? Hatchbacks? Sedans? HA HA HA....

I did a little looking and found the Chevy Malibu is still for sale for 2024. Also the Cadillac CT4 and CT5. That's all I can find from domestic manufacturers.

I had my 2015 Fiesta Titanium from new and put 100k miles on it over about 8 years. Sold it to Carvana and grabbed an 18 ST and I've been living out my dreams with this thing I swear. I wonder how much the value really will rise over time. I'll often toss a recommendation to the ST in other conversations across other communities and it's almost always a hard sell. It's always the same talking points against FWD that as we know the FiST does it's best to counteract, and succeeds. Just funny.

If anything this car has made me aware of and really appreciative of the balance some of this eras cheaper economy platforms really had going for them. This car is CHEAP to run, CHEAP to mod, and not an absolute bear to replace outright if needed. I can't look at a lot of other performance focused platforms and say the same.

I think most of the cool ICE cars that are also manual will go up in value when the EV market takes over. No matter how fast or advanced technology gets. I always find drivers on and off the track who drive carburetor engine powered cars, or cars that set extremely slow lap times but they enjoy it because its more engaging or it's the cars they saw growing up. This is how I feel about my mustang, I know I could get lighter, grippier, faster cars for the time and money but it makes me extremely happy and I would rather be slower in that car than anything else.
How much will these cars go up? Personally, I don't see the fiesta ST being a top dollar car. But then again, someone with more money for an ST than me may disagree.

I bought mine new in 2018 Recaros, tri coat paint etc.. for $19678 and I will have owned it 6 years come July I am now at 29k ( would have been more if not for Covid lock down) and S280 powered since 2020. T boned declared a total last spring . I was paid $21100 by insurance and got to keep it! Would have been 23k otherwise but I had at least 5k in parts on it used value wise. Plus it drove fine and it was purely unibody damage.

Fixed it for $8500 So I am now only officially into for somewhere between $8500 and $12500 cash wise. You cannot tell it was fixed. It does have a Salvage title now but seriously at this point it’s turned into a clean fun cheap car. 🤣 I am not a super fan of domestic automakers I feel they routinely fail in places were they could excel. This car was quite an exception but of course Ford in their missighted dumb rush to all things EV killed it and have discontinued parts for it already . In part because of that …. I do see a car that could replace it in a sense in the GR Corolla yet that is AWD and a little something extra in that sense. I am strongly in a buy mode for that car for a new daily driver.

I do not want to sell my FiST though nor do I need to , I do kinda feel it it’s time to take it out of daily driver duty though due to what I mentioned earlier.
I will keep it as another fun car and my strictly FWD drive machine that does not drive like a FWD.

I have owned mine for five years now, so not since new but I've put 80% of its 110k miles on it. My wife and I have been saying for ages that the only car we'd consider swapping our FiST for is a Miata, but shoot, I'm having doubts. I reckon I could get $9k-ish for the Fiesta, but that barely puts you into a decent NB Miata these days. So yeah I'd get the sports car experience but in a car ten years older. These cars are just so good, and every time I hear another journalist talk about them being (one of) the best FWD cars of all time I lean back towards keeping forever.

First world problems, ya know...

We got ours new in 2019. Have had it just 4 years and 3 months. Just got a letter from the selling dealer offering us roughly $14,000 for it. That's down from the $19,000 they offered us 2 years ago, which was more than we paid for it after the factory incentives.

Bought mine off the lot in July 2014. 128k kms so something like 79.5k miles on it. It's my daily driver. I've had four accidents on it, all hit and runs. Gotta love Montréal for that! I learned to drive manual on this car and it was my first car. Got me through my bachelors, three jobs, founding my startup and soon my master's degree. The only thing now, is to get my girlfriend to learn to drive stick and be comfortable while doing it :D

Bought new (ordered, since I did not want a black, fully loaded one which was all that was available on all of the local dealer's lots) in late April 2016, but did not take delivery until the end of October 2016.

45K miles on it now, and still in love with it, despite any; paint problems, slave cylinder problems (which could be MY fault due to not being able to flush out the
brake/clutch fluid often enough [wink] [bash]), the ubiquitous blend door actuator failures, and my head unit not ejecting my CDs most of the time now (until I disconnect the battery and reset everything).
STILL on the factory pads and rotors, but they need to be done by spring.

The engine is still fully stock/factory (save for GFB diverter valve, ST200 intake, symposer delete, and ruthenium plugs), but I have tried to pull as much weight out of it as possible, and still be 'streetable', so it feels quick off of the line despite giving up much power to most on here (I do NOT need the rear seats, and all of the attached trim/accoutrements behind the front seats as so many others do, so no problems there).

I would love to do an S280, but this being my ONLY CAR, PERIOD, and a daily driver needed for errands which demand a car, I am very reluctant to do this mod (less so a tune, but even that gives me some pause, regardless of being out of warranty).

Bought 2016 new in October as well. I could give a flying musca domestica about resale value because aiyaint sell'n dammit. Even less likely is me touching any prepaid auto repair plan. Stop asking! Damn mailamarketers... 😄

I got mine (2019) in April 2021 with 1380 miles on it. After moving out of the city where I work, I've got more freeway driving than not for my commute, and I didn't like putting miles on a fun car in a boring way, which has me looking.

Currently on my shopping list: 2017-2020 Lincoln MKZ 3.0tt AWD. It's a tank at 4k pounds, but it pushes 400 hp and 400 ft-lb, plus its all about comfort for long cruises and freeway driving, which is what I'm after right now. Never gonna sell my FiST, just gonna treat it the way it ought to be treated: used for fun, not for boring stuff.

Picked mine up in Sep 2014 and have never looked back. 107,200 miles with still 18,000 to go on the extended warranty. Getting all the parts needed for the timing belt change which I'm going to get done in the next few weeks. That way it will outlive me! 2nd gear is my favourite with slight torque steer even with the lsd! Great car!

Just a quick note here on collectability. .. In my case I recognized that this was a special car as far as that goes when new. So I've kept every original piece that I replaced with a mountune part. I took the wheels and tires off at fewer than 100 miles and put them away too. Thus I have in the basement the original intercooler, all the hoses, airbox, shocks, everything. I keep track of every dime I spend except insurance. I can tell you how much I spent on gas, when and where I got. i.e. complete records.
I have always viewed this car as akin to the Ford Lotus Cortina. Great to drive, good economy, great performance. Nothing else is even close. ... Having been a top 3 in Road & Track Performance Car of the Year is just icing.

I though that there was only a LOTUS (headed) Cortina, not a Cossie headed one. [dunno]

The latter Mk1 & Mk2 Brit/Euro Escort RSes, as well as the Escort Cosworth RS (of course) used Cossie headed engines.
