Consumers in the US had been begging for Ford to offer the Focus RS in the market last year, which may have led to the automaker confirming the arrival of the pocket rocket stateside. The next question is whether it would have such rabid fanfare in China.
After the massive success of the Ford Mustang in the People?s Republic ? and everywhere else for that matter ? Blue Oval reckons that Ford Performance has the potential to blow up all around the world.
Hence it is following up the muscle stallion with two exciting models ? the Ford Focus RS and Ford F-150 Raptor ? for the Chinese market.
One could argue that the Mustang has gained success abroad because of its place in pop culture, but the Dearborn brand believes that the RS and Raptor would have equal gravity outside the US as well.
The great news is that they are heading over largely unchanged from their US-spec models. Ford?s hot hatch would continue to use the Mustang?s 2.3L EcoBoost engine tweaked to deliver 350hp and the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 estimated at 450hp in the performance truck that replaces the 411hp 6.2L V8 of old.
