2016 Ford Fiesta ST
After a period of heavy rain, I noticed that my hatch will open by itself while driving.
If I close it and start driving again, I can hear the trunk release button go off.
As a temporary fix, I closed the hatch and disconnected the power to the release mechanism.
Annoyingly this sets off the door open warning on the dash and my interior lights stay on.
In true lazy fashion, I was going to keep it like this until the end of this year since I don't use the hatch much.
But those interior lights are starting to annoy me.
I read online that water may have gotten into the trunk release button and it needs to be replaced.
I was able to pry the button loose. Part Number: C1BB-19B514-A4
When I go to look up this part number, I can't seem to find it online.
Edit: Just noticed something. Whenever I press the lock button on my keyfob, the hatch button will go off and the rear wiper will move a couple of inches.
Would I have better luck at the Ford Dealer to find the part?
Is it the release button or the whole mechanism itself?
