Mine makes clunky noise as long as I've had it (11K miles now). You can really hear it in the passenger seat. I've always felt like it's just the linkage. Nothing to worry about.

Upgrade the turbo. It will fix all your issues.

#2 more power will expose the problem to a greater degree and you'll know what you fix

I have 22k on mine and it clunks as well. I've learned to embrace and love the clunk/shift noise. I didn't think anything of it until I stumbled across this thread and truthfully still don't.

I'll be concerned with shifting noises if something actually starts to feel strange or breaks, in which case it should be covered under warranty anyway!

That's what I mean. Investing into upgrades and modifications is not what I want. I want to love the car unconditionally. I can call the clunks a part this vehicles personality. However, the car is getting lazier. It doesn't have the youth, the get up and go attitude. The car is excited when I first get going, after 5 minutes, the car is tired. That overboost fades faster. Its loosing it stamina. My car needs some Viagra.

Sounds like you need a Cobb access port.. Or a focus ST.

These fiesta st's aren't very fast or quick in stock form

I have had mine since Oct 2013. Almost 35k miles on it. Driven through 9 states, and in blizzards, and over mountain passes, also on a 22 hour continuous drive, commuting, autox style canyon runs. I have put this car to the test. When I came out to Minnesota, a friend wrecked it, $15k in damages, including a blown motor, in the first 20 minutes of driving it. Since I got it back fresh and new, Its about as quik as the Nissan Versa I rented while in the shop.

Can you feel the turbo kicking in? I would check all clamps and hoses for boost leaks

Its boosting but feels like resistance more than a leak. The exaust sat for 2 months flooded with coolant. The car was driver for an hour almost after the crash with a massive tear in the FMIC. And the motor is getting waay hotter than the original. I have never felt that much heat from under the hood. I can feel the heat emitting from the front grill. I heard a loud bang the other day, like a bad RMM. Hit a pot hole and it sounded like the strut went through the hood. Bangs, clunks, clicking, knocking, loss of power, and the electronic stearing assistance has a mild grinding feel and pulse, like a the power steering is going out.

yep, mine does the same thing since day 1, never poses a problem to me other than being annoying loud lol not alignment issues at all and no other issues

Same mechanical sounds here, zero mechanical issues.

Both my TC and this car make the same noise when shifting. My TC did it for the 50k miles I drove it. I just assume it's normal.

I have noticed this in my 2015 as well. Didn't seem to be there early on, but I'm at 5k on it now and the noise seems to be in the first 3 gears. Pressing the clutch in and out is when the clunking happens, during engagement. Going to check out the linkage and see what that looks like. Smooth shifting it results in no noise.

Mine has made the same noise as you describe for the 17k+ miles of its life. I am willing to bet that I could replicate the same sound in anyone's 14-15 FiST. If you open the hood and reach down to where the linkage connects to the lever on the trans and move it back and forth, you can hear something similar to what your hearing in the car. I personally think the sound is normal and is caused by the lever mechanism that the linkage connects to. There seems to be a little of built in play there and when your moving the lever mechanism back and forth...there is a threshold at about half way that continues the forward or backward motion.

Just following up on this. My noise is as the clutch is pressed in and out, usually in 1-3 gears. Usually loudest when in motion. That is when I will sometimes hear the linkage noise as well. Seems to be associated with actually moving. Not that loud when sitting in park and engine running. Anyone else have the clutch noise?

this is the noise my fiesta is making im going to the dealership tomorrow afternoon, i just hope im still under warranty. The car shifts fine, goes in every gear fine but it makes this horrible sound. Someone mention to me that it could be the flywheel hopefully i will get an answer tomorrow. Mine does the same exact thing there are two distinct noises. One is the linkage and the second occurs upon releasing the clutch.

HELLO ALL, HAVENT BEEN ON A WHILE

but i just want to let you guys know or anybody who has the same problem in the future.
i went to 5 different ford dealer and they will say the same thing, they all say it is normal blah blah blah.

i havent notice the clunking noise that much or at all anymore. probably was just my OCD kicked in.
i did put boomba shift plate and cobb RMM, they really helped a TON with that noise.

Yes go enjoy the car turn up the music.You have warranty on it if it causes you problems later take it up with Ford until then have fun.
