Many have asked how to repair a Triple-R-Splitter so here is a quick how to.

This is NOT a show quality repair but just a quick fix.
As my car is a daily driver I do not need show quality.

This is what can happen if while you are on that mountain road and a Squirrel runs across your path.

The repair is not too hard but cleaning off the Squirrel Squeezings can be.

First remove any fragmented fiberglass, gel coat, and paint.

Next apply duct tape to the bottom of the splitter.

The best product I have found to use is 3M Mar Glass.
It works like Bondo but it is fiberglass.
Mix an appropriate amount of resin and hardener.

Mix thoroughly.

Next apply the mixture to the damaged area.
Don't forget to force some of the mixture between the bottom of the splitter and the tape.

Let harden a little and then remove the tape.

Shape with what we call a cheese greater.

Finish with 120 grit sandpaper.

Then paint.

As I said, this was just a quick repair.
I know there is much more for me to do.
That will come later.

Nice job. Actually seeing little fixes like this gives everyone the confidence to attempt it.

Unrelated but I have one of these splitters and haven't yet installed it. Is the underside of your splitter essentially bare glass with no gelcoat? I wanted to make sure what I purchased is complete and not a half-finished part.

Also, did you have to cut, trim and drill new/different holes to install on your car as others seem to indicate in their how-to's?

It is made up of two pieces, top and bottom.
I don't recall without looking but the gel coat will only bo on one side of each piece.

If you post a photo of what you have, we could make sure.

That looks like the top only.
I cannot get under my car right now.
However on mine the bottom is very smooth.
That should indicate gel coat.

There is no reason you need the bottom as this piece is only for looks.
Maybe they stopped putting the bottom on it.

That makes sense, thanks. I guess it's just a little lighter.

It would be less expensive to manufacture, not that we would ever see a reduction in price.

I would still call your supplier just to make sure.

I did not know they have been shipping them with a bottom, mine did not have one either.

The unit without the bottom is not a great aero piece then....

No worries on mine as I would not of used it as I cut the rear vertical part off and used alumalite to make a full undertray, it works great this way and very light and stiff as well as low cost.

Do you have any photos of this in your build?

Here is a picture from my build thread, I will see if I have anymore I can post up.

It now has a big curved duct to direct air towards the DP area to enhance pulling air out of the engine bay, advised to duct it, a bit differently than I did, by a real race shop manager, the Ford shop at MMP after he drove the car and looked it over on a lift, loved it, the whole car as well:)

I have to take some pics of that mod to post, it helped a great deal.

It is a sign industry product, I buy mine at a local distributor for wholesale, under $100 white, around $105 black, 6mm, 4x8 sheet.

Call sign suppliers, they will have it.

I also buy 4x8 sheets of ABS, the one with a textured surface, great stuff for molding, etc......around $32 a sheet.
