I'm a hardcore atheist my Brother has a degree in ministry. Jeff is a religious Man that's a big part of his life he is going to talk about religion that's perfectly okay. You come off rude and disrespectful to people quite often.

I have seen you come off rude and disrespectful as well. I do not do it quite often like you say or I would not get as much appreciation for my posts.
I am in fact far from it. I do notice people miss sarcasm , I do notice people here do not know how to handle debates and take them personally.
I do feel religion and Politics do not belong on a car forum except in off topic free discusion areas which this is not.
You can make excuses for Jeff thats fine there was nothing in my original post that was rude or disrespectful. It was Jeff who started quoting proverbs at me and you as an athieist should know some atheiests would consider that disrespectful.
Jeff lashed out at me calling me a snowflake that was a angry reaction and could even be construed as rude.
All I did do is tell him not to quote proverbs at me. That is not rude I also mentioned he had opened a door for me to deliver back in kind. Did I no, in fact that was respectfully warning him.

Double standard you practice? I think so.

................................... I think that 0-60 is a silly thing to measure. 1/4, lap times, etc. are more meaningful measurements.
On the track it's silly, but on the streets, nah. 0-60 is a "metric" for streets and doesn't mention or imply a finish line. 60 ft, 1/8mi, 1/4mi all imply a finish line. These are not for the streets. 60ft isn't practical on the street. 1/8 mi, and especially 1/4 mi are metrics for track. It isn't practical or sa...SQUIRREL!!..sh**..TREE!..fe to do 1/8 or 1/4 on the street.

While being a great late-brake, late-apex or cone hunting platform, the FiST isn't a good 0-anything platform. It's FWD, tire-limited, doesn't come with a mechanical LSD, and is tuned too much for the low end from the factory. That said:

Fattest, stickiest tires you can fit - 215/45 unless you flare. They'll also be taller than stock to help avoid the 2-3 shift.
Hybrid turbo - you're not going to have enough traction in 1st and 2nd to wring out a BT but a hybrid, at least, won't fall on its face after 5000
Tune - cuz you've got a hybrid and you're gonna want to up the rev limiter to avoid a 2-3 shift
LSD - you're going to need the traction
Lighter Wheels - Google Fast Ford Lighter Wheel and read the PDF.
Practice - I don't know because I don't, but I hear that launching a FWD takes a skilled foot ..................
All sounds logical. I suspect the only tricky part to launching is getting the best torque without spending the first ten feet just lighting up the tires. Stock config, boost is electronically limited in first though, so that helps!

Even at 7200 RPM, you have to be lucky to bounce off 60... My ethanol tune has it set at the mechanical redline of 7200, and even when manually setting it at 7200 last year to play around with it, then I only achieved it once in 3 tries.
Good point, I've actually never logged in 2nd gear so I don't know if I'm truly making it to 60. The speedometer seems to say so but I see your point.

Dude I love you. Come to Augusta sometime I'm cooking you a steak and buying you a beer. Orange Blossom, 22 proof, it's my current favorite!!!

I am chill I just do not like people bringing religion and politics into discussions where they don’t belong. I hope you enjoy getting props for callimg me a snowflake because I am far from it.
Truth be told. You were the snowflake for reaction to my commets about Pumaspeed like you did.
In fact I could say you were acting a certain way and watch you snowflake the hell out.

Lol you should look at yourself before accusing someone of that
Yes I am a snowflake, in general in life I take offense to rude and unhelpful commentary but I am working on it.

However I can tell you with a 100% clear conscience that my reply to you had nothing to do with the fact that I have Puma products on my car; instead as was stated above your attitude gets old so once in a while I like to throw in some intelligence.

Politics? When did I bring politics into this? Huh??? Are we in the twilight zone? No idea what you're talking about here.

To recap, you deemed Puma turbos as irrelevant now that another hybrid has a few hp more. I think that's silly, so I commented.

And stop editing your posts. Say what you mean and let it be.

NOW BACK TO THE OP!!!!

Truly as others have said I think 0-60 is a poor measurement, especially for our cars being FWD with no traction even on stock hardware and a tune...we all know that Ford severely limited torque from the factory to make the car driveable.

In general, 0-60 is not reproducible on the street. Car & Driver tells you in each review how they got their numbers, just look at the data. Usually it involves a brutal clutch dump and many attempts to get the best and lowest number. We're not doing that to our cars on the street...it's bad for the car, it attracts unnecessary attention, it's illegal to street race, and it's unsafe - torque steer into the family next to you and you'll wish you were never born.

However I get the fascination with 0-60...as a 9-year-old I grew up with two types of magazines laying around the house...porn and Car & Driver. It was always about the 0-60 time in C&D back in the 90s at least. It's an objective benchmark in a controlled setting with controlled variables. The only difference is the driver.

Case study, my buddy Hugo had a WRX a few years ago and while the car was blazing fast he lost a lot of races to slower cars on the streets of Mexico because he had to row the gears. He traded it in for an Audi S3 which does 0-60 in 4.4. seconds. I don't think he's lost a race to anyone on the streets of Mexico in two years of ownership because of two things: (1) AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION and (2) ALL WHEEL DRIVE. The light turns green, he holds the wheel firmly and pegs it and the car is at 60 faster than the guy next to us in the new Corvette because that guy is trying to shift from first to second and his car is fishtailing all over both lanes. Meanwhile Hugo and I are doing 60 already and the Vette is two semi lengths behind us in the rear view mirror rethinking his life.

Great discussion guys.

Level of difficulty isn't what makes 0-60 a poor measurement. 60ft, 1/4mi and 1/8mi are not easily reproducible either. You're going to get radically different results based on the driver, transmission, road, air, fuel and many many other conditions.

People assume 0-60 is a poor measurement because it won't tell you whether it will win a 1/8 or 1/4. What people don't realize is, they're two different things. Again, there's no finish line implied with the former, versus the latter. It's not meant for the track and shouldn't be used there. That's where the confusion is. That's where people get into trouble. 1/8, 1/4 aren't meant for the street because your reaction time and stability will be severely compromised due to speeds that are potentially well into the triple digits.

Saying 0-60 is a poor measurement because it doesn't tell you whether it will win a 1/8 or 1/4, is like saying 60ft, 1/8, 1/4 are poor measurements because they won't tell you whether it will win a road coarse. We use different metrics depending on the environment. 0-60 is for the street. 60ft, 1/8, 1/4 are for the drag strip.

I was talking about actually using the 0-60 and 1/4 mile tool in the performance section of the AP. It will start when you launch and stpop when you hit 60, 3 out of 4 times I couldn't hit 60 in 2nd with redline set for 7200 and the clock just kept counting up as I bounced off redline. And I totally had a horrible noob launch, wheel spin to almost stall before picking up and I still got a 6.4, lol, so I can imagine if you set it to 7250, even it's definitely possible to get low 5's on a stock turbo car with an ethanol tune, but prob 6 flat on a 93 tune is very possible.

I grew up reading the 0-60 times myself, Car and Driver, Road and Track, Automobile, Motor Trend. :)

Edit: Redline, unlike launch control, can't be set in 50 RPM increments, only 100, and I'm not sure I want to abuse the car to the point of raising the redline all the way to 7300 just for a 0-60 time, but I'm tempted to try it once just for "scientific purposes" :)

I don’t know if they make them for the FiST specifically, but you could also consider going with a taller (numerically smaller) final drive ratio, would let you hit 60 in 2nd.

This is exactly what we've been saying just these last few posts... unfortunately I don't know if there is one available or would have to be done custom, I need to watch the video posted above... but sounds like the perfect thing to do the same time as an LSD install like the guy in the video...
