I ended up swapping out for full synthetic prior to my track day - I went with 5w20, though I probably could have gone a step up on it. I think there's merit to the argument concerning thinner oil at peak temps - probably wouldn't hurt to run 5w30 for track, then changing oil out for 5w20 for daily driving. In any case, my brother convinced me to swap out to full synthetic purely because I figured that blend might coke easier in the turbo. I doubt there's much problems in either case as long as you change the oil regularly.
