Windshield top rubber strip?

So my friend noticed the top rubber strip of my fiesta (red) is missing compare to his car (black). I am wondering if the fiesta was designed to be this way or its just my car...

Yes no stripping on mine either. I would assume its not there to allow water to channel down the top and onto the sides without getting on the windshield.

I checked my other friend's x3. He doesn't have one neither. I assume maybe its an European thing lol

After checking a bunch of pics on the inter web nets, I can't see it on any of them. I agree with Harv, could be for channeling water away from windshield. But what do I know, huh?

Also, I don't see that part in the catalog.
