The intercooler is on! The boost pipes are not. For the life of me I just couldn't make them fit.

The intercooler is Pumaspeeds R-Sport 450 Pro which I bought from OC Motorsport in the UK. It's a full height stepped bar and plate intercooler which I hope to put to use on track.

Video is sort of an install video, I was fairly over it by the end of the day.

Are you eventually planning to do a bigger turbo kit??

That IC looks to be a bit of 'overkill' for the factory snail, even in hot ambient temp open tracking conditions as it blocks so much of the (still factory??) radiator, as well as pre-heating any 'pass through' air to it, and could possibly induce some pressure drop with the factory snail. [:(]

No plans at the moment but when I bought the car I ws never going to change anything at all. Cruising around town on daily duties there won't be much pre-heating going on as the intake air won't be anywhere near as hot as on track. I just wanted something that will definitely perform on track.

I did plug in the Mountune handset and see what MAP pressure it reads. The most I had ever seen the MAP pressure hit was 11.4psi at around 100-120m above sea level. My test the other day was 1000m above sea level and recorded a peak of 10.55psi and yesterday on the same road saw 10.8psi so I am not worried about pressure drop, more about preventing heat soak and doing the job lap after lap. I still need to improve ambient air getting to my intake. I was mostly looking to make sure I had no boost leaks after a self install.

It had been a while with not a lot of progress on the car so today I installed the Whoosh Motorsports Crossover Pipe.

A very nice looking part and had it coated in the optional Cerakote ceramic coat.

Installation was pretty easy, just about anyone could do it.

Very happy and great first impressions so far. Thanks for the shirt Ron. 20210205_145118.jpg 20210210_123557.jpg 20210210_161817.jpg 2021-02-10_20-17-03.jpg

I decided to upgrade my tyres.

The Pirelli P Zero Nero GT still have life left so have kept them for later.

I was looking at a much better track tyre that can handle the heat. I originally wanted the Federel 595 RS-RR due to their price but was advised away from them and encouraged to spend a little more but better was out of reach.

Bring on Valentines Day and a sale on the Tyroola website. 15% off was enough to bring the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08r just into budget so I did.

Had them fitted up today and instantly felt the firmness of them, not in a bad way. The mighty FiST is already bumpy enough but the ride felt solid.

Unfortunately they do scrub a lot more as they are much more square than the outgoing Pirelli's. Different shape, different purpose. I wish I had some adjustability to raise the front a few mm.

I also had the tyre pressure sensor system "malfunction" and got a "service now" warning. This wasn't the usual pressure reset needed via the Sync menu as it didn't work. The tyre pressure light, esc/traction light and ABS lights were on the dash. I tried adjusting the pressure at the petrol station to what Ford suggest and reset but didn't work so drove home. After being turned off for 10 minutes this has sorted itself out, for now.

Anyway, I wouldn't say road noise is louder, probably jusy a higher pitch road noise than before.

Anyway, negatives aside, I need to drive on them for a while and then book a track day to really see why I bought them. 20210217_172340.jpg 20210216_135357.jpg 20210216_135552.jpg 20210217_100504.jpg 20210217_121411.jpg 20210217_121423.jpg 20210217_121439.jpg

Those look GREAT on the Superturismos! [twothumb]

I would expect them to be MUCH more quiet than the same size (but narrower, less 'square' tread width) RS-RRs I have on my 17x8 Pro race 1.2s, which scream like banshees at any speed over 25 MPH. [wink]

Cheers. It's a tidy combo the Oz/Yoko. I definitely need to clean it and get better pics!

Road noise was just one of the reasons I didn't go with the RS-RR. Hope to be on track next month.

How are you liking the Supertourismo LMs? I've been looking for a good set of wheels in 17x7.5 that shave a few pounds off stock and are well made.
2 years on and still very happy with my choice.
No issues at all with them aside from the general daily marks.
I think I saved roughly 1.7kg per wheel from the stock wheels which is almost 7kg all round in unsprung mass. Not the lightest choice but given their reputation in strength they are very good (would want to be for the price).
Video only linked because I weigh the stock wheels at the end and mention the weight saving.

1.7kg / corner is actually right on the money. I had a pair of 16x7 RPF1s and found the weight savings to be so extreme (roughly 3.6kg / corner) that it actually started to affect comfort.

They look great and the fitment seems snug at +40. I'm going to run 215/40/17 on them so I'll probably lift my ride hide a bit to accommodate (thank God for coilovers).

Thanks for the vid and the impressions!

I had no issues with 215/40 with a more street oriented tyre (Pirelli P-Zero Nero GT) with Mountune Springs but with this more performance focussed tyre (Yoko AD08R) there is a little scrubbing.
Coilovers to raise the height 5mm would certainly sort that issue.

I assume that might just be the difference between tire manufacturers and actually sizing. Not all 215s are created equal.

I'm currently leaning towards Yoko Advan Fleva V701s so I'm gonna assume they'll fit more like your AD08Rs. We'll see once they're mounted...

So today I finally installed a throttle pedal spacer.

MS_3D based in Melbourne had sent me 2 different sized pedal spacers to fit and trial. Hopefully these will become a production item for sale soon!

The smaller one is 12mm and literally fits under the pedal base without any extra hardware needed, just refit the standard nuts.

The larger 36mm spacer is supplied with 4 nuts, a spacer and a replacement bolt and spring washer.

I left the larger spacer in to test at an upcoming track day to see if I could heel toe.

Not a mod for daily driving but hopefully this little 3d printed fog light delete air duct from Whoosh Motorsports can help a little to prevent heat soak.

I haven't got any tubing yet to direct air to the filter but hoping it can cool air in the general area.

Will edit and update tomorrow if this and the intercooler does a job.

It's a shame these are now discontinued at Whoosh Motorsports, I should of bought 2. Fitment was a direct replacement and looks to sit very flush with the fog light hole...... hehehehehe...... hole.

Edit: Can confirm no signs of heat soak today with the R-Sport Pro450 intercooler and this little fog light duct fitted.

A nice practical little interior touch.

DC3D Design sent me 2 new design handbrake hole covers. Gone is the tape and these are now properly clipped in.

I received one finished in Carbon Fibre and one finished with an OEM style textured plastic look...... I chose the carbon 😍.

OMFG take a look at that Key Ring too!!

Thank you DC3D Design for sending these. Much appreciated and I hope they like the install video.
