I'm glad they are fixing it but now I have to find a dealership I actually trust to do the work....

The one I bought it from and my local one I do NOT.
There is one not too far from me my friend is recommending... I may wait for I'm to be the guinea pig and see how they handle him and his car. He's pretty picky so I'm hoping for the best.

I just pulled up a VIN on a brand new RS and it's also affected. Safe to say this head gasket issues transcends all of the builds so far.

That’s very disappointing of Ford to let this issue idle so long.

True, but did they finally figure it out after some 2018s were built? I mean, they will have 2017 build dates, so it’s possible.

Also, I don't think everyone has the wrong gasket. But, how would Ford REALLY know? They would have to take it off to verify. So I think they are just doing a full sweep and replacing all of them to get it one and done.

Anyone called their dealer yet to get this replaced?
Nope- I would like to wait to at least get the letter. I also need to figure out WHERE to go for the work.
I'd like to go to a dealership that my friend recommended and where he got his RS. I'm waiting to hear what they tell him and how they are handling things there.

HOWEVER, I just saw this article:

http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/news/ford-focus-rs-head-gasket-recall-article-1.3774373

Seems they are keeping the "recall" open through Jan. '19. BUT! it sounds like they are encouraging everyone to get things fixed sooner vs later.
I'd still like to wait for an official letter in the mail. I need to take a trip to this other dealership and see what they tell me in person.

I also think it's still so new a lot of dealerships will have no idea what is going on.

My VIN came up with 0 recalls on NHTSA https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

Possible that it's not yet official.
Mine as well.

HOWEVER, it's not a recall, nor is it a safety issue so I doubt it will. It's a Field Service Action (FSA).

I checked on the Ford Owners website and the FSA comes up on there for me as well. And on the Ford app on my phone.

More info!

I found the official letter we all SHOULD be getting via mail.
Also found the letter/info going to the dealerships. There is good info here for us, especially when dealing with the dealerships.

I already scheduled my initial appt with my dealership next week for the pressure test. Fingers crossed and we will see what happens. I will definitely keep you all informed.

Thanks Monica. I'll most likely schedule mine next month.
