Idle jump in traffic

I've searched the forums and spoke with Mountune and it seems there isn't much I can do about this. But recently at the RS Adrenaline Academy one of the cars I drove didn't experience this "feature". All the others did. So it gave me some hope.

The issue is that in traffic when I'm releasing the clutch from a stop without adding any throttle, the engine revs from idle to 1200 automatically! It causes the car to accelerate too quickly when I'm trying to go very slowly in traffic. It's very annoying and requires that I slip the clutch more than normal and use the clutch more than usual. It's annoying, tiring, and negatively impacts my clutch. Eric from Mountune said that a tune isn't available to remove this "anti-stall feature". I am so frustrated by how many features are added to "manual" cars these days. I buy a manual to drive a manual. Synchros were an awesome addition but I don't need rev-matching or hill assist or rev-hanging or any of that shit. I enjoy learning how to drive the car. I'm glad we can easily defeat the hill assist and that the RS doesn't have rev-matching. I have not experienced the rev-hanging problem that others seem to have. But I almost always drive in track mode with standard suspension.

Anyway, I've never owned an automatic and have 4 other cars I drive regularly so it is difficult to get used to large differences. I also live around NY City so traffic is common. I'd hate to leave the RS home when I know I will be a lot of traffic at some point during my drive.

Thanks for any advice to help me out!

I haven't experienced this or heard of this before now.

Do you have an aftermarket tune on the car now?

If not, I'd be contacting the dealership and getting it checked out... definitely not normal behavior.

Dear GhostRS, Thanks for your feedback but I have not modifications yet. I contacted Mountune to ask if a tune would get rid of the feature but was told that it wouldn't and it's a design feature to avoid stalls. Another annoying advancement in manual drivetrain technology!!! It is real as I have experienced it in many other RS cars. As I mentioned, all but one that I drove in Utah had this feature. I hadn't noticed it for 1000 miles until I was stuck in heavy traffic. Then it reared its ugly head. I usually don't release the clutch without any throttle but when sitting in bumper to bumper slow stop and go traffic I do it to go very slowly. Give it a try and let me know if you actually don't get a rev of the engine. Just gradually release the clutch and let it slip without any throttle input. You'll see! Mine is a 2018 and most at the academy were probably 2017. Maybe the 16s don't have the feature.

This is really weird. I definitely don't experience this at all in my car.
FYI- mine is a '17.

Thanks again for the feedback. I wish mine didn't have it either. But, again, your experience gives me hope!

I'm waiting to see if anyone on here chimes in and experiences this also.
But I really have not heard of this before your post.

I hadn't really experienced it for 1000 miles until I was stuck in my first real traffic. Then I found it really annoying. I can ride the clutch and have the car hold 1200 rpm without me adding any manual throttle inputs. My normal idle is around 700.
