Sweet!

So which Whoosh hot side pipe? The long one or short one?
I think Ron and I exchanged emails on this a while ago, but I may have accidently deleted it - I think he recommended the shorter one IIRC.

-- The longer seems like it's deleting a rubber/silicone connection, thus eliminating a least one potential failure point of a hose popping off.
-- Conversely, using the shorter one seems like if there's any movement, the extra rubber/silicone hose would better absorb any shifts in the piping.

Thoughts?

this is really just a choice
no power difference
We suggest the short style since it's FREE when you purchase one of our boost hose kits

For a complete noob to the FiST, in a nutshell, what is the difference between V1 iand V3?
core size, core efficiency, and end tank internal size are advantages the V3 has over the V1
also factory applied baked on heat coatings on the V3 vs spray paint on the V1
all for $100 more

Thank you Ron.

The V3 requires no cutting/modding of the bumper cover etc to fit to boot!!???

It fits without any cutting, but it’s a tight squeeze. I didn’t re-install my center splash guard bracket - there was no way that was going back on.

I may shave some of my inner-bumper to eliminate the (very minimal) increase in my hood/bumper gap.

YMMV.

That tends to be the norm with bigger intercoolers regardless of brand. That center spash guard bracket will only go on is you shave some of it.

I can confirm my own question......

I installed the V3 this AM and no cutting was required. It is tight, but it fits and no hacksaw needed :)

As noted by others, the center lower splash guard bracket will not go back on (and I am a STICKLER for OE stock parts being used for appearance when possible), but honestly everything goes back together fine without this bracket (no sagging, etc).

I also did not reuse the bolts in the plastic hang straps that come up on each side of the IC as the threaded end will scrape a bit on the IC. So, I used an alternate means of attachment along with some simple aesthetic protection between the strap and the IC.

The last pic above is important to show that the fascia tabs also slide back in....no problem.

The pic below is how I modified the mounting straps. The OE fasteners Im sure would be fine here, but to avoid any chance of slow rubbing/gouging over time, I decided to use this approach.

IMO, Whoosh did an excellent job with this more or less OE fit IC, and the performance bump is very measurable. Ill post some data on that shortly.

This is with an E30 Dizzy tune on an otherwise stock 2019. The ambient temps were fairly close for both runs (80F vs 84F), and charge air temps started at close to the same value for each of the runs as well. For the stock IC run, the CAT at the start of the pull was 85F and ended at 106F, while with the Whoosh V3 IC, the CAT started at 88F and ended at 95F.

@ron@whoosh ......nice job with this one(y)
