Cross post from another thread from myself:

I'll be short here:

In my opinion a daily driver is your only means of transportation whether you drive it 5 miles or 100 miles a day. Anyway, you and I have spoken about my car a little bit. But for the sake of others, here goes.

I daily a DHM GTX450r w/ aux fuel on E30 at approximately 350whp (vDyno). WTQ is unknown because I lose grip at about 380wtq. I could maybe try a 4th gear log and not slip.

Anyway, the driving experience is not what a lot of people think when they hear big turbo on a small engine. I've compared datalogs and vDynos between my stock turbo (199whp on 93 real dyno, 202whp vDyno), my Cyborg (235whp 93 vDyno) and my logs on the GTX2867r including 93 with and without Aux Fuel and on E30 w/aux. The fact is that on DHMs kit and tuning, I'm only tenths behind in acceleration to a given low speed (read: city driving).

There is only slightly more maintenance. I check my plugs about once a month and change them every other oil change or so.

Also, boost is NOT an on/off situation. I can hold the peddle at 19psi, 22psi, 27psi... ~14-17psi is a little harder since that's where the Wastegate begins to open (16psi Spring). But it's pretty controllable.

I'll be honest... 1st and 2nd are pretty much useless at WOT. But I don't need to go WOT to put down damn good power in those gears.

I have A/C, transitions are smooth, no jerkiness at parking lot speeds, AND I get 31mpg hwy/28 mpg mixed on E30!!

I have my cake, icing AND I'm eating it too! And that's all thanks to Russ aka DHM.

I have nothing but great things to say about Russ and his team. He has always answered my questions and given me advice even if it wasn't about his products or services. But then even better, when you ask about his products and services he is 100% behind them, will tell you everything you need or want to know, even things you don't care to know, lol. He has gone well beyond his personal grasps to be able to make customers happy. Extended sales just so people who missed them can get in on it. Ordered things for people even though he knows he doesn't make any money off it. And reached out to other sites and vendors to get ppl the products they want if he doesn't sell it or if he doesn't have it in stock. This is someone I want to continue doing business with, and will continue doing business with as well as picking his brain. He has always been helpful and customer service is amazing. I highly recommend Dead Hook Motorsports to anyone, for his products customer service and services. Which btw, his in house products, yeah, they perform just as good as they look. And they look like sex! Parts porn pro.

I have from DHM the sound symposer delete, stock fit intercooler, and GT290R Quick Spool kit plus tuning by Russ. As everyone have said already before, the quality of the product is amazing. Had the pleasure to visit Russ and crew in Troy, MI for my big turbo install, spent couple days hanging out and bugging Russ with a millions of questions about our platform, cars and deep life thoughts. Can't really say enough good things about the DHM crew, I love the no B.S, high quality, hand-crafted art like approach to making quality parts for our cars. Always reachable by text or email, often at random times of the late hours lol! If you are looking for quality and engineering, look no further then Russ.

Ok, this is my honest review of my experience with DHM

I recently upgraded my ATP 2560 turbo kit to a DHM quickspool set up with the ewg and at the same time I purchase a DHM crash bar and race intercooler. Over all I am extremely satisfied with the fit finish and quality of the parts received. These are hands down the highest quality aftermarket parts I've ever purchased. I also probably had the fastest turn around time of any of the other DHM customers being about 4 weeks from ordering to the parts arriving at my home (we had a rushed time frame due to a major upcoming car show). Through out the whole process of ordering and waiting for the parts to arrive Russ was extremely communicative and I received top notch customer service (I'm a dealership service advisor trust me I know customer service) There were a small few hiccups with my order due to the rushed time frame and some miss communication. All small items though. (My ewg was the wrong color and my bov flange ended up being on the charge pipe rather then the intercooler like I had requested ) All of which were very minor issues. (If I had better reviewed my invoice I could have caught this before I received the parts. So, I feel the mix up was partially my fault.) Russ had offered to correct both issues promptly. With out question, Which I declined due to my time frame and needing my car to be functional again(It's my DD).
After installing my quickspool kit and race IC
I don't know why I wasted my money on the ATP turbo set up or the Mishimoto J-line t
That I was previously running. The way the power rolls in between the two kits is a night and day difference. With how the quickspool set up spools the car feels like a freight train compared to the atp set up. The way boost rolls in honestly make the car feel fast in any gear at any rpm (within reason) where as, with the ATP kit the car always felt slow until the very top of the Rev range. The biggest kicker I'd I'm using the same turbo just a different hotside housing. The race cooler is by far the best cooler on the market for these cars. On 4th gear pulls out see 5* charge temp increases whereas with the j-line I would see 20+* temp increases on 4th gear pulls. Not to mention the fit and finish is amazing.

Overall I am satisfied with my purchase from DHM and will be back for a built long block and possibly a larger turbo down the road.

I can see myself going to the quick spool within a year or so. Do you have a Vdyno that you can post so that I can see how the power comes on? Thank you.

So I left a review on this exact page earlier, and now I have another...

6 weeks ago I was going through my big turbo build with my EFR. I later found out that it would not work with the PumaSpeed Manifold. I just wanted to try it out. So I started looking elsewhere. Along came Russ at DHM, he offered to make the EFR manifold for me, which was great because it was originally his kit minus the manifold. He said he still had the jig to make the Manifold, even though he "wouldn't like it" he would do it. I told him I switched the Turbine housing to the Vband housing and he asked where I got it and asked me to send him my turbo and downpipe, as he wanted to test the fitment on the GT manifolds he has been making. I asked for a time line, Russ then told me that it would be 2-4 weeks to have the manifold done, and he would call me once he received the parts and we would discuss a price.

This sadly is where this story stops. I sent him my EFR turbo and downpipe Monday May 9th and got his shipment received receipt on May 11th. I have tried emailing, texting, calling, facebook messaging, multiple times and I have not heard from him at all. Not even a single "Hey I received your stuff" or an "this may take a little longer than expected" or anything. I have tried emailing him weekly and I never receive anything in return. Last week I asked that he just send my stuff back so that I could continue my build myself. and still nothing. I have run out of ideas and I have contacted the Admins about this. I know there are others here that Have had the same problem before. I appreciate russ going out of his way to help me out by making an EFR manifold for me from his original turbo kit, but Not contacting me AT ALL afterwards is upsetting. I Just want my stuff back that I sent him. My EFR turbo and my DHM Downpipe. It has been 5 weeks WITHOUT ANY contact.

Just a update for anyone else readying this. I did receive parts on the 5/11/16. We were in email convo on the 5/14/16 which none was have the turbo kit but was about the tune for his car. The last Voice mail i have is on 4/7/16. Only FB Message i received was on 6/4/16 on my PERSONAL Page. The Last Text to my PERSONAL Cell was 6/13/16. Email was once per week.

I just want to clarify some of the "I have tried emailing, texting, calling, facebook messaging, multiple times" I called him this morning before i even seen this as a customer called me to tell me this was posted.

would like to add that i NEVER took any money for parts

I should have called sooner as i am busy very busy. I am sorry and we try and work harder for every customer but to any one PLEASE JUST CALL ME. I answer my phone when you do. If i dont i call back. Also on the phone kyle did not seem " im over and i want my stuff back"

Back to work for me sorry about all this.

Russ

Been meaning to leave a review but always get side tracked.

I started tuning my cyborg turbo with Russ and Ron after a failed attempt with another tuner, and a botched dyno tune through a vw shop. Both Russ and Ron are great guys. They always answer my questions, no matter how stupid. They get revisions back to me within 24-48 hours, sometimes sooner. That's a great turn around when you consider how busy they really are. I've told Russ on a few hours notice "hey I'm going to the track today, mind if I send you a log from the track?" And he always finds some time to help me out and make sure everything is running good.

while going through the tuning process I actually felt like they took an interest in my car. They don't just give you a quick revision so they can move on to the next guy. I honestly feel they take the time to make sure you're getting the most power possible and safely.

I bought a used DHM race intercooler and crash beam. The install was straight forward. The seller did not supply me with hardware, but Russ offered to send me new hardware for free. The product speaks for itself. Great welds, good R&d. I haven't seen a charge air temp over 5 degrees during cataloging.

I recommend DHM parts but also their tuning service. I feel like most people don't know they offer tuning. You don't need to have their turbo kit to get tuned from them! The price you pay is worth every penny. Great parts, great service, great guys

I installed my DHM quick spool kit a few weeks ago and I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of their products. After working with other shops on different platforms and needing to move/bend/tweak this or that for fitment or needing to take extra trips to the parts store, downtime for ordering missing parts, etc., it is very refreshing for everything to just...fit...so well. While other companies say their kit comes with "everything", DHM actually comes through on that claim. And their custom parts show the utmost level of pride in their work and craftsmanship.

Russ was also very responsive answering my questions during installation, even taking time on a Sunday to answer my texts!

However, I have had spotty communication with Russ otherwise. And build time estimates are definitely...optimistic. But I do believe these are just effects of DHM's workload and small team and not a testament to Russ's character. I will definitely put DHM at the top of my list for future purchases.

P.S. Russ, answer my email! [tongue]

Just a quick follow up to my previous review:

My car had recently developed a boost leak that I could not track down. When i finally found the leak, it ended up being a cracked weld on my intercooler end tank. After shooting Russ a few photos of my damaged intercooler he immediately stepped up for the end tank issue I was experiencing. He explained to me they had an issue with the vendor that cut the end tanks at the time my intercooler was made, and immediately offered to send me a new intercooler free of charge and pay for the shipping label to send the defective part back to him. He also reimbursed me what I had paid for a local welder to weld up the end tank. I am more then impressed with his willingness to go above and beyond for the customer.

Thank you again DHM for everything. You have earned a customer for life with me.

P.s. I'll be sending money in the am for the 360R turbo upgrade and map sensor we talked about.

I need to leave a feedback as well. as most of you know. I have had three reviews on this thread and where one was not the best.

Well, I'd like to leave another good review of DHM, more specifically Russ and Ron that I have dealt with. Ron is currently tuning my car, and it is unreal in the difference the way the car feels compared to the previous tuner. He was able to get it to spool a slightly faster, and it definitely is much smoother when under light boost and part throttle. The car absolutely screams now. I can't wait for black Friday as I'm going to purchase more goodies from these guys and have the car retuned again to see what this EFR Kit is really made of... well, as far as the stock motor will let me go. Also, I'm getting a new revision daily, and sometimes even 2 a day. Great customer service and great results on my tuning experience with Ron.

I have been in contact with Russ quite a few times on the phone/email/and facebook for advice and he has always been eager to help me out.

I realize this is probably not the norm for DHM but I can't say I was impressed with them. I initially contacted Russ with a question regarding how to approach a build. After about a week he got back to me with an answer that only raised more questions than it answered. So I asked a follow up question and never heard back. I figured Russ is a busy guy and there's probably lots going on at DHM so hand-holding some random guy who isn't even a customer likely wasn't at the top of his priority list which is understandable. I proceeded to make my own call on how I wanted to proceed with the build. When I went to buy the parts, it turns out they don't have any quotes for shipping to Canada, and advise that you contact them for shipping info outside the US. I was then told by some forum members that the DHM Facebook page is a good way to get a hold of them regarding shipping info. I contacted DHM via facebook asking for a shipping quote with the information they would need to give me an estimate. That was the last contact I had with them, as to this day I haven't received a response. Call me paranoid but I wasn't comfortable spending a grand on parts with next to no contact with the business. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere.

Lol the email i posted shows me responding to a email YOU sent Oct 3rd. You also sent the same emails OCT 7th (friday) to a DIFFERENT email address which we ignored because i sent you a response on OCT 9th(Monday). So we responded in less than 48hours. But less than that because it was over the weekend when we are closed. So your upset that you did not get a response sooner than monday when you email on Friday? If so i am very sorry we did not get back to you on saturday or sunday. As it stands we are the last ones to respond the you on the 9th.

thank you

Russ
